How can you help?

There are many ways you can support us.

Without volunteers we would be unable to provide a service to those in food crisis. From time to time we need volunteers with specific skills and these roles are advertised on Facebook.

By sparing us a few hours of your time whenever you can, you will be helping to provide an important and increasingly needed safety net to others in your community.

Warehouse Team

The Food Bank Warehouse Team packs the shelves and ensures that donated food is in date, sorted and recorded.

This work happens on Monday to Friday between 10.00am to 2.00pm in the Church of the Nazarene, Ardrossan.

Supermarket Collections

60% of our food comes from collections at supermarkets and so we needs teams of four volunteers who will look after a single supermarket.

We will only need to call on these teams four times a year.

Register as a Food Bank Volunteer

Choose if you would prefer to help in the warehouse, as part of a supermarket collection team, or both.

Tell us which days you are available. The food bank currently operates on weekdays between 10am and 2pm.

To minimise the amount of time we need to call on a person’s services throughout the year we are seeking to establish teams of eight people who will look after a designated store in their local community and participate in a maximum of four annual collection events at that store. There are different ways in which you can choose to participate. You could help out at a specific store, or out at our collection events, or be part of a pool and help whenever you’re available.

Use this box if you want to tell us anything else about yourself, e.g.'only available first Tuesday of each month'.

We rely on  volunteers, and we understand that it’s not always possible to share your time. But even if you can’t come along and help us in person, there are other ways in which you can lend your support.

Here are a few…

Open a distribution point

We are looking for organisations to join the network of distribution points.

If you or your business/employer are able to hold a supply of emergency food boxes and be available at regular times to give them out then we’d love to hear from you.

It would especially be good to have venues close to social services area offices where many referrals come from.

Donate groceries

You can donate groceries to North Ayrshire Foodbanks at any of our distribution points during our normal opening hours.

We are happy to accept donations of any kind of non-perishable, in-date food items but some things are needed more than others.

Check our Facebook page for dates and locations.

Become a sponsor or partner

If you are a company that shares our belief that no-one should go hungry in our local area, we’d love you to work with us.

There are many ways to get involved: From volunteering as a team building activity to sharing your expertise.

Fundraising

With your friends, in the office, at school, as a family, or just by yourself—there are many ways to support the food bank.

Open a hub

These are agencies from across North Ayrshire who help by holding food boxes and issuing them to people with a voucher.

If you would like to help a partner agency let us know and we will pass on your details.

Distribute food

Contact us if you would like to start a food bank collection point at your work, school or church.
